Hello Brothers and Sisters
We have started negotiations for the City of Quincy and Boston Housing. We have a tentative agreement for Cohasset Schools. If you are part of these contracts, please review YOUR current agreement. If there are ways to improve it, reduce your proposed changes to writing and present them to an officer either in person or at Local meeting. These agreements typically run for three years so this is the time to propose improvements to YOUR contract!!!
In Abington ,we have reached a tentative agreement with the Town. We are in the process of finalizing the numbers in the wage scale. once this is completed we will bring it back to our members for final ratification. The agreement has been ratified and we are now in the process of drafting updated job descriptions.
The District Council is in the final stages of a tremendous refurbishing and updating of the entire facility. I encourage ALL members to come and visit !! We are in the process of setting up a curriculum for training. Once that curriculum is set , we will let everyone know so it can be utilized by our members.
The summer is starting and as always Local 1139 has volunteers who go down to the Quincy Yacht Club for the Veterans fishing day. For those who are unfamiliar with this event, it is a day where many volunteers come down to help hospitalized veterans go out on lobster boats to fish. At the conclusion of the fishing they are brought back to QYC for a catered lunch before returning back to the hospital. Local 1139 has been a part of this GREAT event for 25 plus years . Anyone interested in helping please reach out to a member of the Executive Board.
